Patricia Rorrer’s Story

I have always maintained my innocence because I am innocent. My case in a nutshell is this: I was convicted on a DNA match made to the root of a hair found in the victim’s car which was located 15 miles from the crime scene. In 2015, an outside source, through a freedom of information act request, received an FBI report that was never handed over to my defense which states unequivocally that the hair that was DNA tested and matched to be had “No Root Attached” to DNA test. This is proof positive that whatever hair they tested and supposedly matched to me was not the hair they found in the victim’s car. Add that to the fact that several pieces of evidence found right with the bodies, including a hair in the victim’s right hand, a cigarette butt, and three pieces of fingernail—one still with flesh and blood attached—have been determined not to belong to me, and my innocence is proven. But the courts won’t listen. They keep denying me on the basis of being time barred. In other words, they hid a document that proves my innocence and are now saying that I can’t appeal because I should have found the document myself much earlier.

You can see the case—and all the problems—on Investigation Discovery’s Murder in Lehigh Valley and the Starz Channel series Wrong Man. Wrong Man was produced by Joe Berlinger, who gained freedom for the West Memphis Three, and who only profiles cases of people he believes to be innocent. There’s also been a book written, Convenient Suspect, by author Tammy Mal who came into the case believing I was guilty and ended up writing about my probable wrongful conviction. And, one of my strongest supporters is the ex-sister-in-law and close friend of the victim. Her reason for wanting to help is an easy one; she wants justice for the victims, and so do I. Is it enough that someone—just anyone—is paying for these crimes? Or should it be the actual guilty party? I need help, I won’t lie. I don’t have a lawyer, nor the funds to hire one, or to hire forensic experts. I need help with that. I need help to fight the system, help to generate publicity, help to find the person who committed these horrendous crimes, and help to gain my freedom. Please watch the shows. Please read the book. Please view my facebook and other social media. Please help to pressure Pennsylvania to look at my case. I’m not asking to be set free, I’m only asking to be allowed to review the evidence (all of the evidence) and plead my case. If you can help in anyway, I would be deeply appreciative. You can write me and ask anything you want and I will answer.

Thanks for listening!

  1. I think it is sad to have missed your childs life and your own life for a crime that unreasonable for patricia. People dont kill people for getting hung up on. An to drive all the way there to remive all but one screw from The wood panel to reach in and break a lock then cut a phone line to wait and attack later. Why that doesnt add up. Why not just remove the last screw? How the hell did she know where the phone line was. How did the husband call the police if the phone line was cut and he found it later after the police call? Why would anyone drive 100 of miles to kill someone for hanging up the phone you wouldnt even be mad anymore by the time you got there. Why would Patricia kill a 3 month old baby after still to this day remorsing over the loss of her 3 mo th old baby. It does not make sense there is way too many errors in the investigation. Looks like Andrew intentionally pointed the cops to patricia and sadly it worked. Just from what I read and seen in the shows and transcripts this is wrong. People make mistakes and that is including the law enforcement and judicial system. If it was you sitting in a prison for now 20 years for a crime you did not do while the killer runs free you would wish ithers would hear you too. The obvious mishandling of evidence and poor motive as the law turns a blind eye is unreal. They know its wrong but would rather take a life of an innocent person than admit they were wrong. That alone makes them just as guilty as the real killer in the loose.

      1. I am so angry that this poor woman lost years of her life for such sketchy, horrible investigstion. I watched the day the verdict was read, the media had interviewed Andrew and he was literally hiding back a smile. He was so fucking happy it worked, he was free from punishment and they are all some dumb and I’m so fucking smart. Ugggghhh right then I knew, you cant convince me otherwise. Did he ever submit to lie detector testing? I pray that you get some justice..Anything I can do to help let me know

      2. Patricia responded, Yes, he took at least two polygraph test that we have, and maybe a third! He showed deception on similar questions on both. But, honestly it isn’t about him, it is about injustice, for me, and for the victims. Thank you for your support!

  2. I am a 32 yr old texas resident, I was drawn to the wrong man showing that my boyfriend was viewing from his phone to television, my eyes were glued to the tv anxious to see the ending and that your innocents was finally revealed. When it was over I felt as though I was watching an incomplete movie. My heart is saddened. I am just a few months shy of the age you were when you were convicted. I don’t have any children, but to put myself in your shoes is most devastating to think of. I’m no one that could really be of help to you but you have every bit of my support. I will follow this until its end. The most striking thing of all is that they have based this conviction off of hair found in a vehicle without roots, but not testing the hair that was clenched in the victim’s fist. My opinion is maybe a hitman was hired for some reason. They convicted you and that was that. I hope to hear back from you. Keep your head up.

  4. The fact the bodies didn’t decay like 4 month dead bodies would and the baby was bigger then a 3 month old child would have been closer to a 5 to 6 month old child. These bodies were there only a short time . Check the boy friend look at his face when he comments to the tv news at the conclusion of the trial he looked like wow I’m home free. Strange how he pointed police to Patty and the area bodies were found .

    1. I believe she means “time barred.” Time barred means that she didn’t file a PCRA (Post Conviction Release Act) within a year, which means she can’t return to court without newly discovered exculpatory evidence.

  5. I just watched wrong man. I have any questions left unanswered. I live in a cold area and know that wild animals and bugs exist during cold weather when there is a dead anything. I dont see how that mother and child were found intact after 4 months. And then to hear that the hair clenched on her hands was not dna tested! Omg. I’m not a praying person but I sincerely hope you get exonerated and they find the true killer of this mother and her child. That’s another thing that haunts my mind… if that baby was not killed but died of exposure… I dont understand a woman walking away from a crying baby… that is not in a womans nature. As a mother myself and a nurse. I cant see a woman walking away from a live baby. Oh and the investigator suggested the baby was closer to 6 months old at death… anyway long story short I believe in patty’s innocence. Oh and camera flashes can change color of hair… hope someone gets a judge to listen and take notice of the lack of evidence and have all the same questions. I promise if I had been on that jury I would have had these questions then.

  6. I just watched “Wrong Man” and holy shit what a disgrace that prosecutor was to you Patricia. Their entire case makes no sense, especially when forensics prove the murders couldn’t have happened back in December, flies and maggots don’t lie. Even if they didn’t have today’s scientific measures, anyone who saw that crime scene can tell Joann and her son were not in those woods for 3 months. Also the way the baby was swaddled in his blanket is not indicative of a baby who was just taken out of a car seat. I could go on but I’m sure you’ve already made these conclusions yourself. It’s just horrible when a politician only cares about pleasing the people with a suspect, instead of actual justice. I hope to God you get a new trial and I hope knowing that some of us are out here believing you and pulling for you to be vindicated gives you some slight solace. God bless you and your daughter I can’t imagine the pain you’ve both endured. Stay strong Patricia.

  7. What ever happend to Innocent Until Proven Guilty??? If this was the case here, this woman would have never been convicted. With all of the facts, and lack of evidence, Patty is clearly innocent. I never met this woman, but knowing that a person could be imprisoned with little to no evidence is sickening. I pray for you Patricia Rorrer, that God reveals the truth, and some day soon you return home. I trully do believe you are innocent. Good Luck to you, and if you need any petition signed or anything else to get you home, feel free to contact me via email..

  8. Comment from Clifford Freeman that was sent to the Right 2 Redemption email

    Hi Patricia,

Despite most programme makers doing their utmost to adversely prejudice your case, I have always believed you to be innocent.
It sickens me that these documentaries are allowed to be so dishonest and biased.

Thankfully, for what it’s worth, your case has been exposed to a great many people with the support you’ve had from Tammy Mal and a fair and factual programme presented by Keith Morrison. That hopefully, will lead to sufficient pressure brought to bear on the legal system to do what’s right and release you.

I have visited a great many websites highlighting the (seemingly crooked) investigation leading to your arrest and your trial (which I can best describe as laughable — if we’re to believe it was based on honesty and truthfulness), and have in my small way spoken in your favour in nearly all of them, some of them very forcefully, making a few enemies, no doubt, in the process.

I earnestly hope the day will come (soon) when someone, somewhere, sees sense and does the right thing which would lead to your freedom – with all due compensation. God knows, you’ve suffered enough unjustly.

Until then, the American Justice System can hold its head in shame, because I for one, an observer from Great Britain, see it as an ugly carbuncle on a system purporting to represent something which is fair and honest.

Lastly, when the day comes and you are released, I hope the authorities go after those scheming investigating authorities and prosecution team responsible for your misfortune and mete out an overdue severe penalty.

    My regards to you.

Where he lives now is where I believe he took her and the baby, the people that reported seeing her and the baby I believe they did see someone but not her! Our judicial system is BROKEN 💔 it’s so sad to know what little bit of bullshit can cause you the rest of your life! Nothing and I do mean NOTHING matches Patricia but yet she is rotting in a hell hole!! But this happens way more than people think!! The husband did it period!! If he didn’t guarantee he is involved!!
